Emory Walton is Vice President, Distribution at A+E Networks. Walton has been with A+E for over 15 years, starting his career as an Assistant in Affiliate Sales and then advancing to Account Representative followed by Account Manager and Account Director. In these roles, he managed sales and marketing, demographic research, and contributed to the launch strategy for History en Español securing the network's first carriage deal.
In his current role, Walton is one of A+E Network's distribution team leaders, overseeing business strategy and relationships with U.S. and Caribbean based distributors. In addition, he is responsible for distribution strategies across an array of platforms, which includes VOD, digital, and authenticated content rights.
An active member of NAMIC (National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications) since 1997, he served two terms as President of the Southern California Chapter in 2006-2007 where he grew annual revenue and spearheaded NAMIC's Vision Awards recognizing diversity in cable programming. Walton currently serves on NAMIC's Multi-cultural Marketing Committee; a consortium of the industry's leading multi-cultural marketing experts who support the objectives of NAMIC and research media consumer trends in multi-cultural markets. He is also a mentor for NAMIC's L. Patrick Mellon Mentorship Program where he assists mentees with their personal career development.
In 2010, he was named as one of NAMIC's Most Influential Minorities in Cable and has been renamed this title for 2013. In 2012 was recognized as a NAMIC Luminary, which honors the cable industry's next generation leaders. He also is a recipient of the 2012 WICT (Women in Cable and Television) Advocate Leader Award.
Walton received a BA in Communications Studies with a specialization in Business from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also received an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount University and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma; the international honor society for business schools that recognizes outstanding academic achievement.
