Robert Rockell serves as the Vice President of Regional Engineering Operations at Comcast, where he and his team design build and operate Comcast’s converged regional networks, supporting all of Comcast’s Residential and Business products.
As the largest Cable Operator in the US, the network is one of the largest converged voice, video, data, and business services networks in the world. In his role, he’s responsible for planning, build, and scaling of Comcast’s IP network delivery infrastructure.
Prior to joining Comcast, Rob served as an Systems Engineering Manager at Cisco, focused on the cable segment, after spending 12 years at Sprint operating, building, and scaling Sprint’s National and International IP networks.
An early adopter and technologist, he’s authored standards for technologies such as IP Multicast and IPv6. He’s designed VPN Products and technology, and has experience broadly across the Service Provider industry, from Telco, to Cable, to Vendor environments.
Rob has a double degree in Physics and Philosophy from Carnegie Mellon University, and enjoys time with his wife Deb and his two daughters Rosie and Gabby.
