As the Director of Membership Acquisition & Engagement, Darryl oversees the strategic direction of the membership, chapters, customer service, outreach and development departments at the New York State Society of CPAs. In this role, Darryl provides strategic guidance and program development in these key areas, and works with the Chief Operating Officer in creating and enhancing products and programs that further the organization’s mission and vison, while ensuring that members are able to maximize the benefits of participation and affiliation.
Darryl began his career in government and finance as a loan officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and later moved into mortgage loans as a mortgage broker for SunTrust Bank, Mortgage Virginia and Virginia Mortgage Services. After seven years in finance, Darryl shifted to a career in non-profit and association management, serving as Director of Membership Services and Marketing for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, as a Chapter Development Specialist for the Project Management Institute (PMI) and then as Manager of Chapter Operations and Mentoring Relations for the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC).
He is an active member of the American Society for Association Executives (ASAE) and has served on their Committee for Diversity and Inclusion. Darryl received his Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Business and Economics from Virginia State University, where he was a U.S. Department of Agriculture National Scholar, and his Masters of Business Administration from University of Maryland University College in Management. Darryl is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organization Management (IOM) and holds ASAE’s Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification.
