2021 ODI Student Stars Program

Student Stars serve as ambassadors for One Day Immersion and are an integral and essential part of the day. The students are recommended by faculty and tasked with assisting in all the moving parts of the event to make sure that all attendees have an optimal experience. We currently have a wonderfully diverse mix of students from Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and Northern Virginia Community College. The 2021 Student Stars are sponsored by The Cable Center, and technology industry executive, Zenita Henderson, SCTE/ISBE.

I'm thrilled to be a part of the ODI team for the year 2021! I'm currently an MS in Media Management student at the Gabelli School of Business. As an International student from India, I'm excited to have the opportunity to experience the various cultures and hope to make a mark in the Media and Entertainment industry. I also have 3 years of work experience out of which 2 years were in the event industry and I hope to be sharing my knowledge and expertise in the same at ODI and making a difference.

Franki Rosenthal
Franki Rosenthal

Franki Rosenthal is a graduate student at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business pursuing her M.S. in Media Management. Before attending Fordham, Franki received her undergraduate degree in Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. Franki is thrilled to join the One Day Immersion as a Student Star, where she will collaborate with her peers and help with this year’s event. With a passion for marketing and communications and a desire to pursue a career in entertainment, Franki is excited to work on this meaningful event where she can learn and grow through other students and media professionals.

Julia Pinto

Julia is a Brazilian graduate student from Fordham’s Gabelli School of Business. Before moving to NYC, she worked for four years at Brazil’s biggest telecommunications company, managing events, closing sponsorship deals, and later developing advertising campaigns. Because of her passion for everything that airs on tv, she aims to pivot her career and work in the entertainment industry.

Oliver Tavatli
Oliver Tavatli

Oliver Tavatli is currently in his senior at the University of Arizona studying marketing at the Eller College of Management. Oliver has had a passion to work in the entertainment industry when he began taking piano and acting lessons at the age of six. Since then, Oliver has been using his creativity to compose piano and electronic music as well as performing in shows at his university. Becoming interested in public relations, Oliver began working with Riddle and Bloom as a campus brand ambassador to promote HBO programming. He also has been working with one of his favorite artists, Codeko, with his social media presence in return for help with Oliver's own music production. He is very excited to be a student star and wishes to learn and experience everything there is in the entertainment industry.

paul bukoskey
Paul Bukoskey

Paul Bukoskey is a Senior at Arizona State University, yet against popular belief is not an alcoholic and is disease-free...we think. He is wrapping up his Bachelor's in Film and Media while working as an Associate Producer at ESHAP (sound familiar?). Paul hopes to achieve his dreams of being an Actor, Writer, and Producer (a little bold if you ask me), through his unprecedented passion, effective communication skills, and slightly insane work ethic. I'm actually here with Paul right now. Paul, what do you have to say about joining the ODI team? "Well, I can't think of a better group of genuinely great-hearted individuals all across the "board", with devilishly intelligent minds that so graciously are paving the way for the next generation. ODI is all about inclusivity and unbiased opportunity, which you can't say about many other organizations. My only question for students is...if you aren't already on the ODI train...well...get on."

Rosa Mendez Galicia

I first joined the One Day Immersion family as one of Northern Virginia Community College,  Star Ambassadors. I will be forever grateful to NVCC for that opportunity.  Not only am I honored to return for my third year to help support the program's mission, but to also give back to the program that fueled me with inspiration and determination to achieve my dreams. This program changed my life. Now I have the privilege of returning as a young professional working in the industry. I currently work for Discovery Communications as a service technician for their Digital Media Prep team. ODI helped me believe it was possible for a first-generation student like myself to make herself be seen in the industry. I intend to keep growing and to keep giving back. Thank you to all involved in this dynamic learning outreach opportunity.

Willette Oden

Unsure of the path I wanted to take after high school, I finally made the decision to make Northern Virginia Community College my new home. That was a good decision.. There I became interested in Communication and Media. I graduated NOVA in 2018 with an Associates in General Studies then transferred to Norfolk State University, a historically black university, where I currently study Mass Communications. Although college has been a challenge for me academically and socially, I continue to thrive and conquer any obstacles put in my way.

Prior to the initial break out of COVID-19, I interned at Norfolk State’s radio station and studied the functions of different job roles within the station. I also got that chance to write entertainment news for the on-air morning show. I have a strong passion for creative writing such as poetry, journaling, and songwriting. I have performed in city venues in DC, which is my home.

I am grateful to Northern Virginia Community College for providing me with the opportunity to assist with One Day Immersion. I know that this conference provides knowledge and networking opportunities to students like myself, who are trying to get a sense of career opportunities and applications for my major. This kind of outreach is so important to young professionals. I am excited to meet Dolly Wolf and the Board of Directors and want to assist the success of this program any way that I can. One thing I have learned is that by helping and serving others, I help myself.  I know this will help me on my journey. I am determined and appreciate ODI's mission to provide equity...a long time coming!
